Ang Henerasyong Sumuko Sa Love (2019)
Directed by: Jason Paul Laxamana
5 leads in a movie means more chances to share a story. At hindi nila nasayang yun.
Jane Oineza showed vulnerability with her character. Ramdam mo ang awa para sa kanya. At na-feel mo yung pagiging weak nya.
Jerome Ponce may not have the strongest impact when it comes to portraying gay roles. Pero he is believable. Lowkey siya umarte. Hindi pabibo. But it's convincing.
Myrtle Sarosa is not convincing. Para siyang manika umarte. Modulated ang voice at blanko ang mukha. However, during the confrontation scene where she had the most provocative lines, lumabas nang konti yung emotion nya. At nakatulong yun sa eksena.
Albie Casiño is natural in all his scenes. Nakakaaliw kung paano nya dinala yung character nya. Nagsimula siyang pa chill chill lang tapos unti unting tumaas. Hanggang sa nakakadala na sya. Most especially dun sa gate scene. He was able to take you with his journey.
Tony Labrusca had so many opportunities to bring depth into his character. But all of those were missed. He is dependent on the actors around him to carry the scene. Even on the climax where he played a crucial part, his portrayal is the weakest. But his message is definitely the strongest among all.
It’s evident na hindi pantay-pantay ang contribution ng bawat isa sa mga eksena. May umaangat. At may humihila din pababa. Aside from that flaw, the movie also keeps inserting unnecessary elements. Seryoso ang kaganapan, then biglang may bagay/tao na papasok para siraan yung serious moment. Nakakasira ng mood. Nakakawala ng momentum. It doesn’t blend well with the tone of the movie.
The movie may not have a smooth execution. But the story is well-written. And there were moments that contributed in highlighting their message—which is timely and empowering.
Hindi mo man sobrang love yung movie na’to. Hindi mo rin sya sinukuan.
