Bekis On The Run (2021)
Directed by: Joel Lamangan
Two brothers stole money and kidnapped a lady.
Then there’s a movement supporting them because they’re allegedly “bekis on the run”.
Anong nangyayari ?
The characters are either delusional or hysterical. Nothing in between.
They have topics like LBGT rights, violence against women and military anomalies. But neither was handled with care. They try to be relevant, but they ended up being outdated.
The only reason why this film had a star is because of Lou Veloso and Tabs Sumulong. These two artists can make you laugh with their unrestrained performance. One of their conversations was really memorable.
𝘛𝘢𝘣𝘴: 𝘗𝘶𝘳𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘣𝘢𝘬𝘭𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘨𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘬 𝘮𝘰?
𝘓𝘰𝘶: 𝘈𝘯𝘰 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘮 𝘮𝘰? 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘬𝘢 𝘣𝘢 𝘯𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘯𝘪 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘗𝘢𝘤𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘢𝘰?
That was ballsy.
But how do we use these witty lines to come up with a strong and purposeful narrative?
Unfortunately, they’re contented with throwing punchlines that lead to nowhere but a cringey resolution and a cringier collage presentation. The movie has no direction. More so, it is misguided.
Tumatakbo sila,
pero hindi nila alam saan sila pupunta.
