CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

Captain America: Brave New World (2025)

Directed by: Julius Onah

This 2-hour movie feels like a video résumé of Sam Wilson, showing what he can offer as the New Captain America. You’re calculating his every move, asking yourself if he’s worthy of the title.

You’ll get fascinated by the wings. His equipment has a mind of its own. The suit looks refreshing. All his capabilities are desperately being enumerated in this movie.

Deep inside his armor, Sam Wilson is still a child compared to Steve Rogers.

Sam’s combat skills are limited to human opponents, and even then, he's still fragile. Imagine if Red Hulk enters the picture. Pairing a superhuman with an ordinary man seems absurd. The battle already ended before it even started. How they managed to end their game in this movie is uneventful and underwhelming.

Samuel Sterns is a lackluster villain that leads you to boredom every time he speaks. His brain is powerful, but his actions suggest otherwise. Post-credit scene is unexciting.

Some visual effects have a cartoon-like quality. Green screen is evident in certain background. Editing is subpar.

Indeed, there are flaws and limitations that the New Captain America cannot hide. The sooner we accept this reality, that’s when we can move forward and appreciate the new direction.

Sam Wilson offered something more grounded. Steve is comparable to God, whereas Sam is a human being—just like the rest of us. The former is someone we idolize from afar, while the latter is within reach.

The fact that Sam is a human adds an extra layer of curiosity to his showdowns with superhuman. You’ll wonder how he’ll survive and get past them. Seeing Falcon and Captain America together in the sky is a beautiful display of teamwork.

Actors Danny Ramirez and Shira Haas possess endearing qualities that complement the hero in the story. Harrison Ford strikes a balance between strength and vulnerability, making Red Hulk more than just a regular foe. Other characters make short yet sweet appearances.

Anthony Mackie works harder by the minute. His portrayal is authentic. Sam Wilson will forever prove his worth. Too much pressure is on his shoulders, and you can feel it throughout this movie. Despite that, his bravery and dedication didn’t falter.

But is bravery enough to save this new franchise?

From infinity stones to limited capabilities, this new world seems like a downgrade. Nonetheless, it’s also down to earth. Humane representation embodies the New Captain America.

Today's threats are stronger than ever. Power dynamic has flipped: enemies reign supreme and heroes are overwhelmed. It’s a daunting reality we have to face everyday in our lives. Let’s try to be brave and give it a fight.

    1. Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes

  2. The Red Hulk vs Captain America battle ended through a melodramatic conversation. Since the latter is physically weaker, he just used "words" as power to calm The Red Hulk down.

  3. No mid-credit scene.

  4. Post-credit scene: Samuel Sterns (in prison) questions how far Sam Wilson can go to protect his own world, suggesting on some possible outside threats from another world.
