I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE

In this musical, 4 actors will play 40 characters through 20 vignettes. Upon knowing this, you’ll probably wonder how they’re going to do it.

The task seems impossible, but they’ve accomplished it without breaking a sweat. Transitions are smooth. Outfit changes are seamless. Switching of characters are on point. Everything is well-timed and well-choreographed.

Some of the vignettes stood out. With its whim and quirkiness, 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘛𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘐'𝘮 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘺, 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘺, 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘺 instantly establishes the overall mood of this musical. Against a prison backdrop, 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 breaks the fourth wall and challenges the foundation of love.

Which one comes first: have sex or be a parent? This dilemma is felt in 𝘚𝘦𝘹 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘱𝘭𝘦. Meanwhile, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘝𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘙𝘪𝘵𝘻 deserves to be seen and go viral with its daunting and poignant depiction of a single mother.

Gabby Padilla has a gift of making stories come alive. She’s a captivating storyteller, being able to deliver a 5-minute monologue without sounding monotonous. Gian Magdangal and Marvin Ong bring charm and consistency to the table.

Some cast members' effort to make different accents are noticeable. They can sound unnatural at times. Not a big deal though.

Krystal Kane’s performance is so perfect; you wouldn’t change a thing about it. From her facial reactions to her crystal-clear beautiful voice, both your eyes and ears are satisfied.

𝘐 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘠𝘰𝘶, 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵, 𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 runs from February 20 to March 9, 2025 at the REP Eastwood Theater.

Bago yung theater. Elevated yung seats.

In terms of mood and aesthetics, it’s not entirely pleasing.

You’ll get to experience love in different stages—from first dates to last goodbyes. Despite its seemingly fleeting nature, love has always been there in their every performance. It may change its form and it’s never gone.
