ISA PANG BAHAGHARI

Isa Pang Bahaghari (MMFF 2020)

Directed by: Joel Lamangan

With the help of his gay friend, a father tries to reconnect with his wife and three children.

Everyone was treated equal in this movie. Each character has its own problem and flaws, but all of them were given the chance to redeem themselves. Every actor has enough exposure to showcase their talent.

Headed by Nora Aunor and Phillip Salvador, the ensemble did great as a team and as individuals. The toughness that Sanya Lopez puts into her role was believable. The charm of Migs Almendras works for his character. Zanjoe Marudo gave a straightforward and sincere performance. Michael de Mesa deserves a special recognition for his admirable portrayal.

Walang bida at walang kontrabida. Lahat pantay pantay.

The flow of the story is rough. The transitions are abrupt. There are lost moments along the way that will make you question the integrity of the story. Your over-all experience is affected.

The camera shots can get too repetitive. The cinematography felt uninspired. The audio can get too noisy. These technicalities were not a major distraction, but it contributed to making the movie less beautiful.

The presence of heartwarming scenes and dedicated actors can be considered as the best asset of this movie. While all the other things need improvement. The equality that they have for the characters did not match the quality of their execution.
