JOURNEYMAN

Journeyman (2025)

Directed by: Christian Paolo Lat & Dominic Lat

The punches are weightless at the beginning. You can’t truly feel the gravity of their situation. Them as a struggling family is not convincing. The idea of being a “professional loser” is not further explored.

The movie stayed on this lane for a long while—and it feels lame. But when they finally decided to change direction, the punches were never the same.

At last, there’s a reason to cheer.

Nakakaasar siyang tunay. Ang galing niyang magpababa ng morale. Ang kanyang karakter, huwag tularan. Pero ang kanyang pag-arte, pwedeng hangaan.

The tandem between JC Santos and Raffy Tejada is riveting. The more you see the face of the villain, the more you want to the lead to succeed.

More than the fight for the championship title, it’s now a battle of pride and passion. The motivation to win has become infectious.

The film may have started on a weak tone, but it concludes on a high note. The journey itself may not leave an impact, but the end destination leaves a strong one. There’s redemption. Keep punching. Keep fighting.

Losing should never be an option in the first place.
