LUCID

Lucid (QCinema 2019)

Directed by: Victor Villanueva

The character of Alessandra de Rossi in this movie can control dreams. She can manipulate them according to her preferences. Dahil dito, mas gusto nyang managinip kesa harapin ang realidad.

She won’t tell you directly and exactly kung ano ang tinatakasan nya sa buhay.

The more I see her, the more I can feel her loneliness and pain. Kahit naka-upo lang sya at hindi gumagalaw, her eyes will do all the talking. She is the perfect definition of less is more.

With her little actions, I become immersed with her world. That’s the impact this movie has made.

Since they’re embarking on two opposite realms, they’ve opened doors to endless possibilities.

Possibilities are too many — that you will become lost in it. They have become so playful, that they lost track of their own path.

Because she is so relatable. Sadness is a feeling everyone can relate into. That’s why you’re interested to know kung paano nya malalagpasan ang kalungkutan nya.

What we get instead are indefinite answers.

But the topic presented in this movie is too sensitive for them to be playful and indefinite. They’re giving mixed signals that can promote more pain to real people.

This movie lost its opportunity to become a beacon of hope. Instead of giving a lucid message, they chose to remain their doors open, inviting all the good and bad elements to come in.
