My Future You (MMFF 2024)
Written & Directed by: Crisanto Aquino
With FranSeth being the leads, the main expectation is to feel the kilig. But what the movie presented is actually better than expected.
Rated G for a good reason, ššŗĀ šš¶šµš¶š³š¦Ā š š°š¶Ā offers something valuable and heartwarming for the whole family. Nonetheless, some words and themes may still need parental guidance.
Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelinās acting skills are neither bad nor good. It doesnāt look bad but itās also not good enough to be a moving performance. Thereās a big room for improvement.
The editing and vfx are generally fine. Sometimes, they can get excessive, losing the raw magic from the scenes. Cinematography is also decent, but the mood it brings is not consistent.
The musical scoring helps in highlighting the tenderness of the film. The lines may be cheesy, but theyāre heartfelt.
The movie is at its best when itās not trying to be romantic. When the scenes concentrate on the lives of the individual characters, thatās when it gets emotional and meaningful.
On that moment, ššŗĀ šš¶šµš¶š³š¦Ā š š°š¶Ā successfully found its heart outside the loveteam formula. May the future of romance movies learn a thing or two from this story.
