TAHONG

Tahong (Vivamax 2024)

Directed by: Christopher Novabos

Tahong is a suitable title for a Vivamax movie because of its dual meaning. Regardless of usage, tahong can be eaten in more ways than one.

The lead character is a female virgin that depends on mussels for a living. While it’s convenient to insert puns here and there, the script still fails to maximize its truest potential. Tahong is mostly used as a low-hanging joke and on a surface level.

Even though it’s already part of their story, there’s no effort to discuss tahong as a body part nor as a form of livelihood. Its differences and similarities are not even part of the lines.

All actors in this movie was given a chance to showcase their acting skills. Most of the time, their acting is exaggerated. Nonetheless, emotions are present. Some scenes are actually moving.

Power dynamics is present among the characters, and some of them are not depicted well.
