Tenement 66 (2021)
Directed by: Rae Red
3 teenagers found something in Tenement 66 that seems to be the answers to their problems.
This movie has a good flow, allowing suspense to naturally grow. Scenes are not dragging, as mystery keeps piling up.
Stylish cinematography is noticeable. The location, which is just an old simple building, turned into an elegant spooky art exhibit of faded treasures.
The teen actors are promising, most especially the lead. Francis Magundayao gives the appropriate emotions, showing toughness and vulnerability whenever necessary.
Having good direction, cinematography and actors, the film gravely fluctuates on its story and character development.
The ending tries to sum up all the learnings from the movie through a long narration — which is inadequate to cover up the shortcomings of the story.
Without a substantial storyline and characters, Tenement 66 remains to be poorly constructed.
