That Thing Called Tadhana (2014)
Directed by: Antoinette Jadaone
A film that’s overflowing with love
— you can’t help but fall for it.
Their grief has become yours. You are carrying the weight of their emotional baggage. You can’t let go. You ask yourself.
Where do broken hearts go?
Heartbreaks are full of complications, but this film doesn’t need to be complicated for them to show how broken they are.
Direk Antoinette Jadaone utilized all the right elements — from the cinematography and score that serve as a powerful outlet of feelings — to the script and cast that remain to be an effective conveyor of emotions.
Angelica Panganiban set the standard in giving conversations that are heartfelt and true. She can share her stories to you all day, and you will never miss a beat. Her every line is tied up with immense emotion, making you feel its depth.
JM de Guzman has warmth and tenderness that’s comforting. You’ll find solace in his presence. He can make you believe that everything will be alright, as he embraces you with open arms.
There are no artists that can make this film come to life other than Angelica and JM. Their interaction is reciprocal, indicating that no one deserves to be alone and lonely.
Sasamahan ka ng pelikulang ito na maglakbay para harapin ang buhay. Tutulungan kang ilabas ang bigat na dinadala mo. Wag kang matakot na umiyak sa kalungkutan at sumigaw sa kawalan.
Every tear is worth the shed because of the relief and comfort it gives.
This film is worth your tears.
That Thing Called Tadhana transformed the landscape in Philippine cinema by using the same characters and topic all throughout the film without losing its purpose of sharing a beautiful story. It has become the epitome of heartfelt conversations, serving as a constant testament that the best way to our hearts is by speaking directly from the heart.
This film will forever be pierced through our hearts.
