Tokyo Nights (VMX 2025)
Written & Directed by: Joey Cruz Manalang

People often say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But that saying is not applicable this time. No matter whose eye is watching this film, no one would dare to say it’s beautiful.
Out of the 169 movies that we’ve managed to watch on Vivamax, 𝘛𝘰𝘬𝘺𝘰 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 is undoubtedly the worst to the max.
The production team even went to Japan to shoot all the scenes. Prepare yourself for a freaking nonstop 6-minute montage showing its different places and activities. Instead of driving tourist attraction, it’s only giving tourist distraction. With the amateurish cinematography, scenic spots from Japan are downgraded.
There’s a documentary interview portion wherein all questions lead to sex. The confrontation scene, abruptly turning into foursome, is mindblowing. It’s shot entirely in Japan, yet most scenes are done inside the restroom, hotel room and swimming pool.
There’s also a random 1-minute fireworks display which serves as a symbolism of how scattered and messy the film is.
To connect the scenes with each other, the editor inserted clouds and skies in between. The sun and the moon are already tired of showing up just to hide the hideousness of this movie.
Some characters are speaking in Nihongo. They sounded beautiful, but when you read the subtitles, all they are talking about is sex.
There’s no emotion present with the actors and actresses. Audio dubbing sucks. Songs are cheesy and disorienting. Musical scoring is repetitive and irritating to hear. Shots are blurry. We’re getting a Windows Movie Maker vibe from the editing.
The running time is only 1 hour, but it feels like forever. What an excruciating watch.
Instead of 𝘛𝘰𝘬𝘺𝘰 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴,
the title should be Nights of Terror.
Lust is out. Disgust is in.
TAGLISH VERSION
OF THE MOVIE REVIEW:
Sabi nila, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
This is excruciating to watch. Nakaka-offend panuorin.
Imbes na 𝘛𝘰𝘬𝘺𝘰 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴,
mas bagay siyang Gabi ng Lagim.
Aatras ang iyong kalibugan
dahil sa sobrang kapangitan.
