WALANG ARAY

Without exaggerating… this is easily one of the best Original Pinoy Musicals to have ever blessed our ears. What did we do to deserve a musical as beautiful as this?

Just watched “Walang Aray” for the second time around, because those beautiful OPM deserve to be heard again. Fell in love with it again (and will forever be).

No songs left unnoticed because of how it was presented to the audience. The lights, the props, the costume, the choreo, and the ensemble worked hand-in-hand to make every scene memorable. Everything you see and hear are in harmony.

The screening last February 14 was already beautiful, but the April 15 show was even more splendid in all aspects. The chemistry between the leads was more evident. The production design was more instragrammable. Some lines, that sounded offensive before, were delivered in a safer manner. The high notes were hit with more care. There’s an English subtitle now, but hoping there’s also an equivalent Filipino subtitle as well because seeing the exact Filipino words and lyrics while hearing it would have a more chilling effect. Nonetheless, overall more than satisfied with this experience. Can’t imagine what the remaining shows would look like.

Walang Aray is not a movie. But it’s worthy of a review. Our only wish is for this musical to become a film, so we can give it the rating it deserves — 5 stars.

This is gold standard.

This is core memory.

This is what the Filipino audience deserves.

Thank you for giving us a 5-star musical experience.
