WHEN THIS IS ALL OVER

When This Is All Over (Cinemalaya 2023) Directed by: Kevin Mayuga

How does the rich react to the pandemic?

This movie offers the good kind of shit and they’re not afraid to show it.

It’s an escape from this cruel world. And we can’t complain because we badly need it. Through this film, we can pretend that we don’t give a shit. Still, the more that we don’t care, the more that we become self-aware.

The cinematography gives off a vibe that’s hip and cool. The shots are artistic, representing the main character’s state of mind. The insensitivity of the lines are indirectly saying that the joke’s on us. The ensemble feels like a one big family who really needs to party.

The movie keeps on getting us high, failing to bring back its feet on the ground. Sensibilities wandered off, feeling numb to the world’s painful situation. Perhaps, it’s the kind of drug that we need.

Do we still want this pandemic to be over when we can just pretend it doesn’t matter…
