Yung Libro Sa Napanuod Ko (SMMFF 2023)
Directed by: Bela
A girl meets boy and a lot in between.
The visuals are dull. The storytelling is dragging.
The execution is emotionally draining.
The film focuses too much on how to present its story in the most creative way. In doing so, its heart and sincerity got lost along the way.
It tries to be edgy by putting lots of flashbacks, fastforwards and plottwists. In the end, it loses the chance to impart a sensible journey for the characters.
The script has the potential to capture hearts and minds. There’s an effort to share a different kind of love story. When you read the subtitles without looking at the scenes, the lines can be moving.
Perhaps, the story is best read than seen.
Yung Pelikula na Sana’y Nabasa Ko na lang
kaysa sa Napanuod Ko.
